Inclusive Excellence

Seed funding program designed to support researchers from equity groups in establishing or strengthening research programs and developing competitive external funding applications. The program provides small internal grants to support research and scholarly or creative activities that advance knowledge while promoting inclusive research environments and equitable participation in the research ecosystem.

The program provides small internal grants to support research and scholarly or creative activities that advance knowledge while promoting inclusive research environments and equitable participation in the research ecosystem.
What Projects are Eligible?

Well-defined research, scholarly, or creative projects that will:

 

  • Support the development of a research program or new project
  • Generate preliminary results for external grant applications
  • Produce scholarly outputs such as publications, creative works, datasets, or exhibitions
  • Strengthen research collaborations or future funding opportunities
Who Can Apply? Full-time University of Windsor faculty members and librarians with a research mandate including:
  • Tenured/Continuing appointments
  • Tenure-track/Continuing appointments
  • Limited Term appointments covering the duration of the proposed project
Applicants must not hold other funding for development of the same research project. Priority will be given to applicants from equity-deserving groups including women, Indigenous Peoples, racialized scholars, persons with disabilities, and 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals.

Eligible Expenses
  • Student research assistance (undergraduate or graduate)
  • Travel to meet prospective collaborators (not conference travel)
  • Virtual collaboration meetings
  • Professional grant editing
  • Statistical consulting
  • Office expenses (max 10% of award)
  • Costs associated with the use of specialized research equipment (equipment purchase not eligible)

Award Value $5,000 (maximum)

Applications accepted through the ERSO Research Portal

All grant holders must submit a final report, detailing the impact the award had on their work, within one month of the termination of the award.  Grant holders who fail to submit a report will be ineligible for future internal grants.  The information supplied in these reports will be used to report grants’ outcomes to SSHRC. Grant holders who fail to submit a report will be ineligible for future internal grants.
