Special Initiatives Grants - Understanding Identity-Based Violence and Marginalization

Seed funding program designed to support research addressing identity-based violence and marginalization in alignment with United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions). The program aims to foster research that advances understanding of violence, discrimination, and marginalization and supports the development of inclusive and equitable institutions. Projects may generate knowledge, inform policy, or pilot programs addressing identity-based violence and marginalization.

The program aims to foster research that advances understanding of violence, discrimination, and marginalization and supports the development of inclusive and equitable institutions. Projects may generate knowledge, inform policy, or pilot programs addressing identity-based violence and marginalization.
What Projects are Eligible?

Research projects that explore identity-based violence and marginalization on campuses or in communities. Eligible activities include:

 

  • Data collection and analysis examining experiences or prevalence of identity-based violence and marginalization
  • Policy and legislative analysis related to discrimination or marginalization
  • Creative research activities such as artistic or performance-based approaches
  • Pilot programs addressing identity-based violence in campus or community settings
Who Can Apply? Full-time Faculty members, Librarians, and Ancillary Academic Staff holding tenured/continuing, tenure-track/continuing, or Limited Term appointments at the University of Windsor whose appointment covers the project period.
Career Stage Targeted (if applicable) All career stages; priority given to Early Career Researchers (within five years of appointment).

Applications accepted through the ERSO Research Portal

All grant holders must submit a final report, detailing the impact the award had on their work, within one month of the termination of the award.  Grant holders who fail to submit a report will be ineligible for future internal grants.  The information supplied in these reports will be used to report grants’ outcomes to SSHRC. Grant holders who fail to submit a report will be ineligible for future internal grants.
