VPRI Research Chair

Internal research chair program designed to recognize and support Early Career Researchers (first 10 years post PhD) at the University of Windsor who demonstrate strong research potential. The program recognizes early promise through a research chair title and provides targeted funding to help strengthen and expand  research programs, support student training, develop new research directions and collaborations, and increase competitiveness for external research funding.

The program recognizes early promise through a research chair title and provides targeted funding to help strengthen and expand  research programs, support student training, develop new research directions and collaborations, and increase competitiveness for external research funding.
What Projects are Eligible?

Research activities that strengthen an investigator’s research program and increase competitiveness for external funding. Eligible activities may include:

  • Research personnel (students and research assistants)
  • Research materials and consumables
  • Travel for research collaboration or partnership development
  • Knowledge mobilization activities
  • Activities that support development of future external grant applications
Who Can Apply? Full-time University of Windsor faculty members who qualify as Early Career Researchers (generally within approximately 10 years of PhD) and demonstrate strong research potential or early research success. Applicants may not currently hold another major research chair (e.g., Canada Research Chair).

Final Report Deadline Reporting survey to be completed within 1 month of chair end date.

Applications accepted through the ERSO Research Portal

All grant holders must submit a final report, detailing the impact the award had on their work, within one month of the termination of the award.  Grant holders who fail to submit a report will be ineligible for future internal grants.  The information supplied in these reports will be used to report grants’ outcomes to SSHRC. Grant holders who fail to submit a report will be ineligible for future internal grants.
