Introduction to DRAMSys (1st Offering)

Presenter: Steven Rice

Date: Friday, October 10, 2025

Time: 9:00 am

Location: Workshop Space, 4th Floor - 300 Ouellette Ave., School of Computer Science Advanced Computing Hub

Abstract

This workshop serves as an introduction to using DRAMSys, a powerful DRAM simulator. This workshop will guide you through the environment setup and installation of DRAMSys followed by exploring the various components of DRAMSys. Next, various tools along with examples of how you can capture real memory traces from your machine and test them with DRAMSys will be covered. By the end of this workshop, you will be ready to start experimenting with DRAMSys, providing you with the skills needed to determine what memory configurations perform best at different tasks.

Workshop Outline:
  1. Installing requirements for running DRAMSys.
  2. An overview of the components of DRAMSys.
  3. Guide on how to capture memory traces and test them with DRAMSys.

Prerequisites:

Familiarity with Linux terminal commands would help, but is not required.

Biography

My career has focused on applying technologies from the world of game development to solve complex industrial challenges. I have led the development of industrial robotics and vision simulation platforms, creating digital twins to validate manufacturing concepts and accelerate client development cycles. My current research builds on this foundation, exploring the next generation of these systems by applying agentic AI to digital twins and robotic systems. I believe the intersection of AI and real-time simulation holds the key to the future of smart mobility, and I'm excited to help build that future with you.
