Geography Teachable

The School of the Environment offers a Geography teachable that may be used toward a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Windsor Faculty of Education. The course list has been recently modified to have more flexibility and be more clear in the requirements.

It is highly recommended that students interested in pursuing a certificate, minor or Geography teachable consult with an academic advisor to ensure the courses you would like to take are available and will count toward the certificate, minor or teachable.

To have Geography as a teachable subject at the Junior/Intermediate level, or to have Geography as a second teachable subject at the Intermediate/Senior level, your six courses must include a minimum of: one physical geography course; one human/economic geography course; one Canadian geography course; and one GIS (Geo-Informatics) course.

To have Geography as a first teachable subject at the Intermediate/Senior level, your ten courses must include: two physical geography courses; two human/economic geography courses; one Canadian geography course; two GIS (Geo-Informatics) courses; two courses on global issues (e.g. tourism, environment, development, poverty); and one course on resource management.

**These courses are required for all teachables.
