Frequently Asked Questions

Students must contact the professor to request permission to enroll (you must state you are missing the specific pre-requisite). If approved by the professor, forward their email to business@uwindsor.ca. Professors have the final decision on whether you can enroll in their course.

To add a 2nd option (specialization, minor or certificate) you must add all at the same time, even if one option is already added. Review this ask.uwindsor article for instructions. Note: after Step 8, DO NOT click submit, click ‘+’ and a second line will appear, and follow step 7 & 8 again. Once ALL options are added, continue to Step 9.

A student who wishes to receive consideration on matters affecting or shown to affect academic performance based on medical or compassionate grounds, such as, bereavement, or serious mental or physical health circumstances, or unanticipated extenuating circumstances beyond the control of the student (e.g., jury duty, caring for an ill family member, labour disputes, etc.) may request an alternate accommodation for a missed assessment by completing the Alternate Accommodation Form and submitting it, along with any relevant documentation to the Dean’s Office at Odette. Read the missed assessments policy.

We do not permit students to skip over others on the waiting list to both ensure fairness and to protect the integrity of the list. We do review them regularly and accommodate a higher cap when feasible. If you are on the waiting list, you will be notified if/when space becomes available.

All Business students must obtain permission from the Undergraduate Program Director to overload. To be eligible, you must have a minimum cumulative average of 85% OR be in your final semester. To request permission, please contact business@uwindsor.ca.

Students enrolled in an undergraduate program may repeat a course a maximum of two times (three GRADED attempts in total when the original attempt is included). When you repeat a course, the highest grade will be used in calculating your GPA, with a repetition notation. The lower grade will be excluded from your GPA.

PLEASE NOTE: If you fail a course and it is a pre-requisite for a future course, you cannot continue with your enrollment into the future course until you pass the pre-requisite (you will be removed if you do not drop the course)

Add/drop deadline: the last day a student can add a course to their semester or drop a course without appearing on their transcript.

Voluntary Withdrawal Deadline: After the add/drop deadline, a student can drop a course until the voluntary withdrawal deadline. If you drop a course, you will receive a ‘VW’ grade, which does not affect your GPA.

No, you cannot voluntarily withdraw from a course after the deadline has passed.

If you are placed on the waiting list when there are open seats, it may be due to the following:

  • You are already enrolled in the maximum number of courses – you must use the SWAP class function if you wish to switch our course from your schedule
  • You are already enrolled in another section of the course

It is best to follow your course sequence available further down on this page. If you have changed your sequence, book an appointment with an Academic Advisor in the Odette Student Success Centre.
