Amazon Lockers

The University of Windsor offers two free Amazon Lockers that are open to the public. You do not need to be a student, employee or visitor to the University to use them. Anyone who shops on Amazon.ca can have packages delivered to a locker and pick them up at a time that suits them.

Both lockers are on the University's main campus at 401 Sunset Avenue, Windsor, Ontario, one outside of the Joyce Entrepreneurship Centre and one outside of Vanier Hall.

Coming to campus to pick up a package?

Short-term visitor parking is available on campus. See visitor parking for lot locations and rates before you come. The campus map shows where each building is.

How It Works

  1. Add a locker to your address book. On Amazon.ca, go to Your Addresses, select Add Address, then Find an Amazon collection location near you. Search for JOYCECENTRE or VANIERHALL and select Add to address book.
  2. Choose the locker at checkout. Select Change next to the delivery address and pick Amazon Locker – JOYCECENTRE or Amazon Locker – VANIERHALL.
  3. Wait for your delivery email. When your order is delivered, you will receive an email with a Start Pickup button.
  4. Collect within 3 days. At the locker, turn on Bluetooth and open the pickup page in the Amazon Shopping app (tap Start Pickup in your email, or go to Your Orders and select How to pick up at the Locker). The app connects to the locker automatically. Tap Open Locker, take your package and close the door.

What Can Be Delivered to a Locker

An order is eligible for locker delivery if it:

  • weighs less than 35 pounds
  • has product dimensions smaller than 19 x 12 x 14 inches
  • is sold or fulfilled by Amazon
  • is valued at less than $5,000
  • contains no hazardous materials, including batteries or items containing batteries
  • contains no perishable items
  • contains nothing requiring identification on delivery, such as tobacco or alcohol
  • is not a Subscribe & Save item
  • does not include items shipping from other countries
  • is not a Release-Date Delivery item
  • is not an Amazon Business order

There is no guesswork involved. If an order does not meet these conditions, the locker will not appear as a delivery option at checkout and the order defaults to home delivery.

Good to Know

  • Pick up within three days. Packages not collected by the end of the third day are returned to Amazon and refunded.
  • Not everything can be delivered to a locker. See the eligibility list above. If an order does not qualify, the locker will not appear as a delivery option at checkout.
  • Order questions go to Amazon. For questions about an order or difficulties at the locker, contact Amazon Customer Service at 1-877-346-6244, available 24 hours a day. The University does not have access to the locker or its contents.

Ordering for a University department?

Frequently Asked Questions

No. The lockers are a free service open to the general public. Anyone with an Amazon.ca account can choose either locker as a delivery location.

Whichever is more convenient for you. Both are at 401 Sunset Avenue and work the same way. JOYCECENTRE is the locker at JEC and VANIERHALL is the locker at Vanier Hall. You can add both to your Amazon address book and pick one at checkout for each order.

Three calendar days from the day it is delivered. Your delivery confirmation email shows the pickup deadline. If the package is not collected by the end of the third day, Amazon takes it back and issues a full refund.

Make sure Bluetooth is on, you are within about 10 feet of the locker and the Amazon Shopping app is up to date. Open the pickup page from the Start Pickup button in your delivery email, or from Your Orders > your delivery > How to pick up at the Locker, and wait a few seconds for it to connect. If it still will not open, contact Amazon Customer Service at 1-877-346-6244.

Yes. Forward them the delivery confirmation email with the Start Pickup button. The person collecting will need a smartphone with Bluetooth and the latest version of the Amazon Shopping app.

Amazon redirects the delivery to the backup address set in your account. It is worth making sure your Amazon account has a usual delivery address on file.

Oversized orders cannot be sent to a locker at all, so the lockers will not appear as an option at checkout and the order goes to your usual delivery address instead.

Contact Amazon Customer Service at 1-877-346-6244, available 24 hours a day. The University does not have access to the lockers or the packages inside them, and cannot open a compartment or release a package.

Returns are not available at these lockers. Follow the return instructions Amazon provides with your order.
