Human Kinetics graduate student and track and field athlete Chloé VidAmour has been recognized nationally as the first ever Lancer recipient of the USPORTS Student-Athlete Community Service Award.

VidAmour also took home this year’s provincial recognition as the winner of the OUA Female Community Service Award in track and field.

A fifth-year jumper on the Lancer women’s track and field team, VidAmour is also a program coordinator with the Adapted Physical Exercise (APEX) program.

In this role, she works with community partners, including Community Living Essex County and local school boards, to support programming, organize volunteers and offer exercise opportunities for adults and high school students with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

VidAmour’s research as an MSc student in kinesiology and health studies complements her community work, as she studies neurotypical volunteers’ perceptions of people with disabilities in the context of APEX.

“APEX has been such a huge part of my master's journey and my personal journey as well,” said VidAmour.

“APEX has created so many great experiences, memories and opportunities for me, and I am so grateful to be a part of such an awesome community initiative. I could not have gotten this award without APEX, Community Living, my advisors (Drs. Sean Horton and Paula van Wyk), as well as everyone that has been involved with APEX in the last couple years. This is a huge thank you to everyone.”

In the community, VidAmour also volunteers as a jumps coach at Holy Names Catholic High School.

Outside her volunteerism and academic success, VidAmour has excelled in competition, taking gold in triple jump at Grand Valley State University and podiuming four other times across the 2025/2026 season, including a 12.09m triple jump for bronze at the 2026 OUA track and field championships.
