POLS 2000. Indigenous Policy and Constitutional Relationships
Monday and Wednesdays 8:30 – 10:00
This course introduces students to Canadian Indigenous policy and the legal Constitutional relationship between Indigenous Peoples and the Crown in a modern context. To guide the discussions, students will engage research and scholarship that critically examines the policy history and its impact in Canada. To encourage critical thinking, the course will encourage students to examine different legal policy eras and areas relating to policy theory. Students will also be encouraged to reflect on their own ideas while examining policy implications.
POLS-2210. Canadian Public Administration and Policy
Tuesday and Thursdays, 11:30 – 1:00
An introduction to the processes of public policy formation in Canada. Includes an analysis of political/bureaucratic relationships, decision making theory, and the role of interest groups in the context of selected contemporary policy issues.

POLS 2010-01, Current Issues in Canadian Politics
Monday & Wednesday, 11:30 am – 1:00 pm
An examination of one or more current issues in Canadian politics, for example, energy and resources, the environment, native
peoples, aging, women's rights, urban problems, and health care. (Prerequisite: one of POLS-1000 or POLS-1300.)
POLS 2440-01, Government and Politics in Europe
Tuesday & Thursday, 9:00 – 10:30 am
Examines contemporary issues such as democratic development, nationalism, and regionalism, immigration and racism, the status of women, social welfare programs, and the consolidation and expansion of the European Union.
POLS 3920-01/POLS 4920-01, Public Service Management Internship Seminar/Practicum
Monday, 4:00 – 7:00 pm
A critical examination of selected theories and concepts applicable to research and management practices in the public sector.
(Admission by consent of a program advisor.) (Must be taken concurrently with POLS-4920.)

POLS-2120 - Environmental Policy and Politics - Online
The course examines the domestic and international context of environmental policymaking in Canada. Topics examined may include global warming, Great Lakes pollution, and endangered species.
POLS-2130 - Public Opinion, Mass Media, and Canadian Democracy - Online
An evaluation of the relationship between public opinion and democratic politics, how opinions, beliefs and attitudes are shaped by the family, educational system, peer groups, and in particular, mass media. Particular attention will be devoted to the role of the mass media in influencing public opinion and public policy.
