Undergraduate Program

The General Nursing Lab contains:

  • Two experiential learning labs (located in the Dr. Murray O'Neil Medical Education Centre)
  • Four skills practice labs (located in Anthony P. Toldo Health Education Centre)

The Clinical Lab Coordinator is available to assist students in their learning. As well, our peer mentoring program allows nursing students to assist their peers with learning. Peer Mentors are 3rd or 4th year nursing students who are hired into the lab based on recommendations by Clinical Instructors. Peer Mentors are available at select times daily to assist students with skill practice.

The General Nursing Lab is located on the second floor of the Anthony P. Toldo Health Education Centre.

Upcoming Year 1 Program Orientation (Mandatory Attendance)

  • The Year 1 Program Orientation is a mandatory Nursing Program Orientation for all year 1 students. It will be held on September 3rd from 9:00am – 2:30pm (8:30 sign in / continental breakfast) in the Toldo Health Education Centre, 1st floor, Room 100.  Your nursing uniforms are not required for this orientation day. Nursing students will be welcomed by Faculty and staff, especially those teaching in year 1 for the fall semester. Throughout the session, students will learn about main concepts within the nursing curriculum and will be introduced to various resources and supports that will help students transition to year 1 nursing courses. An Experiential Learning Lab orientation will be provided along with many opportunities for students to ask questions about pre-clearance clinical requirements, Brightspace, Accessibility Services, and more. An optional short tour of the nursing labs at the end of the day will be available.  Please note: All experiential learning labs will start the week of Sept 8th. All Human Anatomy & Physiology labs will start the week of Sept 8th. Lunch will be provided. Please bring a reusable water bottle for your day.  If you require additional details about this mandatory orientation, you may contact nurse@uwindsor.ca. Nursing students will be done their program orientation in time to attend the University Welcoming Celebration which will commence at 3pm. This celebration is part of the Welcome Week festivities on campus.

  • Tutoring Program (Faculty of Nursing)
    • The role of the Faculty of Nursing is to facilitate a connection only between students who are eligible to tutor and students who request a tutor. Tutors can charge students up to $20.00/hour. Tutors are available for all required nursing courses.
    • If interested, students should contact the Student Success Coordinator, Fran Meloche RN, MScN; fmeloche@uwindsor.ca or nurse@uwindsor.ca
  • Academic Advising, Faculty of Nursing: 
    • The Student Success Coordinator is available for academic advising for all undergraduate nursing students Monday-Friday 8:30am-4:00pm.
