Student Identification Requirements
Student Awards & Financial Aid staff must take reasonable measures to verify a student's identity by requiring identification according to the following:
- The student to produce proof of identity through presentation of at least one piece of photo identification.
- The student to produce proof of identity through presentation of at least one piece of government issued photo identification.
- Presentation of a government-issued Social Insurance Number card (a photocopy is acceptable) or a piece of Government of Canada official documentation that indicates the student's Social Insurance Number (e.g., Canada Revenue Agency Notice of Assessment, a Canada Pension Plan Statement of Contributions or a Confirmation of Social Insurance Number from Service Canada).
The student to produce proof of identity through presentation of at least one piece of government issued photo identification.
- Only SIN cards issued by the Canadian Government are acceptable
- "Replica" SIN cards (i.e., those which can be purchased by independent vendors which are usually gold in colour) are not acceptable.
- If the SIN card has been lost or stolen, a student should apply for a new SIN card through Human Resources Development Canada: Employment and Immigration.
- Valid Driver's License;
- Valid Ontario Identity Card;
- Valid Passport;
- Permanent Residency or Canadian Citizenship Card;
- Valid Age of Majority Card (WITH Photo).
