Dr. Linda Rohr will serve a second five-year term as Dean of the Faculty of Human Kinetics beginning July 1.
“I am thrilled to continue to champion the blue and gold. I look forward to growing our impact, from research and scholarly endeavours, to campus wellness and community engagement,” said Rohr of her reappointment.
In her first term, Dr. Rohr provided steady and strategic leadership, strengthening the faculty’s academic mission and its role as a strong campus leader for teaching, research and community engagement.
She advocated for and helped recruit a new Canada Research Chair in Health Informatics, research that combines information technology and data analytics with healthcare to improve patient outcomes. Rohr also increased internal research supports for HK faculty members.
Expanding program-level community engagement, Dr. Rohr brought LEAD medallion recognition to kinesiology students and helped guide the successful opening of the Toldo Lancer Centre in 2022, which in its most recent year saw over 600,000 visitors. She continues to ensure the TLC fulfills its mandate as a hub for healthy activity and sport excellence for our students and the wider Windsor-Essex Community.
During her first term as Dean, Rohr was also instrumental in the renovations to the entrance of the HK building, ensuring that it is a welcoming and accessible space for all.
In 2024, she helped launch the annual Lancer Day of Giving, which in its second year raised over $155,000 in support of Lancer athletes.
“Dr. Rohr is a student-focused leader who has not only been a tireless advocate for the Faculty of Human Kinetics, but also for the University of Windsor as a whole,” said interim provost and vice-president academic, Dr. Cheryl Collier.
Rohr’s leadership extends beyond HK, including leading the University’s commitment to the Okanagan Charter — an international framework that embeds health and well-being across all facets of campus life — as chair of the Okanagan Charter Steering Committee. She has also guided the work of the Centre for Human Performance and Health (CHPH) steering committee.
Rohr's contributions to university governance have been significant, including service on senior leadership search committees and co‑leading the University’s Data Strategy project planning.
“We are extremely fortunate to have her leadership in all areas continue for a second term,” Collier said.
Looking ahead to her second term, Dr. Rohr will continue to advance initiatives that support student experience, community partnerships, health‑promoting campus priorities and the ongoing development of high‑quality academic programs.
“The Faculty of Human Kinetics is uniquely positioned within our campus and Windsor-Essex to engage students in meaningful learning opportunities and infuse our communities with campus pride,” Rohr said.
