Library Privileges for Distance Education Students

What is available to you Online?

A University of Windsor library card will be issued to Distance Education Students upon request. This card will offer students access to all of the web databases available on the Leddy Library web site which include:

  • 100 + databases for finding journal articles
  • 4000+ full text electronic journals
  • 3000+ full text electronic books through netLibrary
  • email link to ask a reference question
  • live “chat” with a librarian to ask a reference question
  • full text encyclopedias, dictionaries, directories
  • links to other libraries
  • Borrowing privileges at other Canadian University Libraries

Library Cards

The UwinCard, UWindsor's stduent card, also serves as your library card.  If you do not have have a UwinCard, you may request a Distance Education Library card by sending an email request to flexible@uwindsor.ca.  Be sure to include your name, University of Windsor student I.D.#, mailing address, and telephone number. Within two weeks a Distance Education Library card will be mailed to you.

NOTE: If you have previously been issued a UwinCard or issued the a Library Card and have remained enroled for every semester since, this card will remain active and you will not require or be entitled to another Library Card.

 

What is available at other Canadian University Libraries

Students of the University of Windsor may borrow in person from university libraries in Canada. Direct Borrowing privileges are issued free of charge to those who qualify under the Direct Borrowing Agreements (excepting any fines and fees accumulated by the borrower as per the lending institution loan policies.)

Be prepared to present your University of Windsor library card AND a 2nd piece of identification with photo ID (ie. driver’s license) at the appropriate desk and fill out any required registration form.

Please note: The University of Toronto and the Ontario College of Art and Design do not participate in this reciprocal borrowing activity.
